Former India captain Sourav Ganguly, co-owner of Athletico de Kolkata, and Bollywood star Salman Khan, who is a co-promoter of the Pune franchise, however, were absent due to their personal commitments.Nita Ambani, founding chairperson of Football Sports Development(FSD) which owns ISL, thanked team owners for coming forward and supporting the sport.Sachin Tendulkar, Nita Ambani, Ranbir Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan during ISL launch”As a teacher I have learned all about football from my kids and students. Last year when we went to Uttarakhand for Reliance Foundation relief work, I asked the kids what do you want. They told me ‘ma’am please give us boots and footballs’. That is the passion for the game in the country,” said Nita.”It is a momentous day for us as we set ourselves in building a grand coalition among all stakeholders to develop football in the country and take it to deserving space in Indian sports.”advertisementDhawan, who is the brand ambassador of FC Goa, which is co-owned by Videocon Group and I-League side Dempo, said his team will play an attacking brand of football.”Who doesn’t like Goa. But NorthEast United FC will connect the north eastern states with rest of India,” said John.last_img read more

Hockey World Cup: Muhammad Rizwan Sr hopes Pakistan learn from past mistakes in India

first_imgMuhammad Rizwan Sr remembers the 2014 Champions Trophy in India very vividly and more importantly, hopes Pakistan players have “learnt” their lessons from that controversy.Four years ago, some Pakistani players had gone overboard with their celebrations after their semifinal win over India in the Champions Trophy, triggering a major controversy. Two Pakistani players were banned by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) for their obscene gestures.Rizwan hopes Pakistan are prepared to handle the crowd pressure in the Hockey World Cup to be held in India.Hockey team’s new kit unveiled for World Cup Hockey (PHF) (@PHFOfficial) November 20, 2018″It was not a pleasant experience, we have learnt from that,” Pakistan skipper said.”We have discussed that incident and it is behind us now. This time we know we need to be totally focused on our game and nothing else.”If we can beat India in India great, but our main objective is doing well in the World Cup not about just one match.”The World Cup will begin in Bhubaneswar from November 28 and Rizwan said his team is well prepared to handle the pressures during the prestigious tournament.”We have trained hard for this mega event and since it is in India we have been having talks and discussions and have mentally prepared ourselves to give our best under any pressure situation in India,” Rizwan said on Monday. He said his players can deal with the crowd pressures.”Obviously we know the Indian crowds will generally not be supporting us in matches. In the end it is all about hockey and both teams will want to win and that should produce a good contest,” he said.advertisement”We hope the people who come to watch the World Cup in the end will just appreciate the team that plays well on a particular day.”Rizwan, an experienced professional, said the players had no worries about the security as that was something he knew the organizers and the team management would manage well.Pakistan were unable to send their junior team to the youth World Cup held in India two years back because of visa issues. But on Monday the Indian High Commission completed the process of issuing visas to all players and officials of the Pakistan squad, which leaves this week for India.Reports say that the team’s departure could be delayed by a day or two as the Pakistan Hockey Federation strives to clear the outstanding daily allowances of the players before their departure.PHF secretary, Shahbaz Ahmed said they had received a cheque from sponsors, Haier and the players dues would be cleared shortly.”We have told them just focus on the matches. We will take care of the financial details.”(With inputs from PTI)last_img read more

BP Secures USD 1Bn from KMarin ICBC for Six LNG Tankers

first_imgEquipped with next-generation engine technology, the new ships are designed to be about 25 percent more fuel efficient than their predecessors. They also will be fitted with a reliquefaction plant, meaning evaporated natural gas in the cargo tanks can be returned to the tanks as LNG, allowing the ships to deliver more LNG to the market, the company said.BP has a long-term contract for 230 Trillion BTUs per year of LNG capacity in the Freeport LNG facility. The Freeport LNG liquefaction facility is under construction, and the first train is expected to be operational by the end of 2018.BP also participates in LNG projects in Australia, UAE, Indonesia, Trinidad and Angola. The 2017 BP Energy Outlook forecasts that global LNG trade will grow seven times faster than pipeline gas trade, such that by 2035 it accounts for around half of all globally traded gas. zoom Oil and gas major BP is expanding its fleet with six new liquefied natural gas (LNG) tankers, the company said.To support the deal the company has joined forces with KMarin and ICBC Leasing, which are investing over USD 1 billion in the tankers. The new tankers are expected to join BP Shipping’s fleet in 2018 and 2019.According to the data from VesselsValue, the 173,400 cbm LNG tankers are being built for BP at Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) of South Korea. The ships were ordered enbloc in 2014. The vessels will be employed on a 20-year liquefaction contract with the Freeport LNG facility in Texas, as well as other international LNG projects in BP’s global portfolio.“These vessels will significantly increase BP’s ability to safely transport LNG to anywhere in the world, directly supporting BP’s global natural gas strategy,” said BP Shipping CEO Susan Dio. “They also will be among the most fuel-efficient and technically advanced LNG tankers ever built.”BP is taking delivery of six new #LNG tankers to support its growing #LNG portfolio and broader shift to #natgas:— BP America (@BP_America) October 4, 2017last_img read more

In the spirit of “just because you’re a bird doesn’t mean you’re an ornithologist,” Christie Ashwanden took a serious look at the TB12 method, and the reality is that drinking lots of water isn’t the same as putting on sunscreen, drinking too much water is actually pretty dangerous, and “pliability” could have less to do with Tom Brady’s continued efficacy behind center than, say, a continually successful offensive line that’s been adept at protecting him from injury. But…The Buffalo Bills have snapped the longest active streak in the NFL and made the playoffs after 17 years of not doing that. The organization is in heaven right now. While they finished 9-7, teams that got outscored by 57 points over the course of the year usually get fewer breaks in their direction and finish with six or seven wins. Jessica Chastain asks about male costars pay before accepting film roles

first_imgSomething for the weekend: American actress Jessica Chastain has taken centre stage in Hollywood’s ongoing gender pay debate, revealing that she asks about her male co-star’s pay before accepting new film roles. In an interview with Variety, Chastain explained how in the past, her pay would often be decided after the lead male actor was cast and his pay set.Chastain said: “They wouldn’t want me to do my deal until they cast the male actor. They would wait and see what they had left over, even if they’d come to me first. And so I stopped doing that.”Now the actress, who has starred in films such as Zero Dark Thirty and The Help, asks how her pay would compare with her male counterparts’ to ensure that she is fairly compensated.Chastain said: “I don’t care about how much I get paid; I’m in an industry where we’re overcompensated for the work we do. But I don’t want to be on a set where I’m doing the same work as someone else and they’re getting five times what I’m getting.”Chastain told Variety that she has refused a large film role because of the pay gap. She said: “What you’re doing is creating a reputation: Don’t bring Jessica something where she’s not being fairly compensated compared to the male actor. Even though I lost that film, I’ve created a boundary. I drew a line in the sand.”Here at Employee Benefits, we applaud Chastain’s decision to take a stand and raise the profile of the gender pay debate. We look forward to seeing what steps the film industry and other sectors take to close the gap moving forwards…last_img read more

Shenmue III Dev Says Game is Close to the Original Promises Improved

first_imgStay on target Things were quiet on the Shenmue III front for some time after it was announced in 2015. In recent weeks, we’ve gotten new information on the eagerly anticipated title thanks to Gamescom. During an interview at Europe’s biggest gaming convention, Shenmue creator Yu Suzuki gave additional details about the game’s progress.Shenmue II was released in 2001. The gaming landscape has changed considerably since that time. When Metro GameCentral asked Suzuki about how Shenmue III would be modernized, he revealed that things would remain close to the original but still have new elements.“I don’t think it’s necessary to change the basics of the gameplay,” said Suzuki. “If I change it too much the existing fans will be very upset. Although I am always making up new ideas and things to add to the game, which can be a problem for my team who are trying to implement these ideas.AdChoices广告He also added: “At the moment we are trying to keep it to 30% new and the keep the other 70% of the game similar to the original. But the design is constantly changing, and I am always coming up with new concepts that we can try to add to the game if there is the opportunity.”There was a new trailer released for Shenmue III last week. While the environments looked graphically impressive, the same couldn’t be said about the characters’ dead-eyed faces. Suzuki explained that the game is still a work-in-progress and that this aspect should see improvement as development continues.“This has been a definite problem and what you see in the teaser is not the final development. It is still in production and is due to a change in the nature of the character models, rather than the facial animation itself. So what you see in the teaser is not a sign of the final game, and you will see a lot of improvement before the final game.”Right now, Shenmue III is slated to release on PC and PS4 sometime in late 2018. The game’s hype has been building for 16 years, so let’s hope it delivers the goods when it finally comes out.Let us know what you like about Geek by taking our survey. When planning began for Cap Julucas now completed

first_imgWhen planning began for Cap Juluca’s now completed first-phase $22 million enhancement program, one name stood above all others for interior design – world renowned American designer, Paul Duesing. His designs grace the most sumptuous homes and the resorts of some of the premier names in worldwide hospitality. Just a few of his noted hotel projects include the Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat on the Mediterranean Riviera… the Four Seasons Santa Barbara in California… as well as One & Only’s Palmilla and Rosewood’s Las Ventanas both in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico to name but a few.In one of the more unusual stories surrounding Cap Juluca’s handsome redesign, Cap Juluca’s new owner and noted travel industry executive Adam Aron teamed up with Duesing, both traveling personally to Marrakech, Morocco. There, they scoured the streets and back alleys of the Marrakech souks for days on end to select the perfect signature pieces and accompanying accents. The goal from the outset was to enhance yet be faithful to the original Greco-Moroccan tones of Cap Juluca in its Caribbean setting.Paul Duesing Perhaps the most stunning result of all is Cap Juluca’s Main House, which almost magically has been transformed into a new romantic gathering place for the resort. Its new high style is highlighted by centuries-old artifacts, rich woods and soothing limestone flooring imported from Spain and France. The literal and figurative centerpiece of The Main House is a 900-pound, 16′ x 25′ chandelier — constructed of punched tin dipped in brass and consisting of 94 decorative lit metal balls strategically placed to refract light and simulate the twinkling of an Anguillian starry night.Of course, Duesing’s work far transcended what was brought home from Morocco. A wholly new Duesing décor can be found in Cap Juluca’s three restaurants, Pimms, Spice and Blue (making the creations of the new acclaimed and much honored Executive Chef of Cap Juluca René Bajeux all the more palatable). The best electronics from Sony and Bose were added to all guestrooms. And new guestroom patio furniture and custom-made beach furniture, from the likes of Janus et Cie and Dedon among others, adorn the beauty of Maundays Bay Beach. And all this doesn’t even take into account Cap Juluca’s new fleet of golden solar powered self-drive golf carts for guest use, the sixty thousand new flowers that were planted to give Cap Juluca full bouquets of bountiful color or the new ecologically sensitive and wildlife friendly night lighting that was installed to cast a romantic glow around the property throughout every evening.Commenting on the refreshing of Cap Juluca, Paul Duesing said, “We believe that design work should be authentic and that the design process should be fun. Our trip to North Africa certainly achieved both. Rummaging through back-street shops of Marrakech, we found some amazing pieces. The custom chandelier that we created for the Main House outdoor living room was inspired on the spot, when we found a warehouse full of intricate metal balls of varying shapes and sizes. It seems to me that guests come to Cap Juluca to unwind and to recharge. As a former Cap Juluca guest myself, I knew the beach to be beautiful, the food delicious, and the staff gracious. Putting it all together, the overall atmosphere at Cap Juluca is one of casual, chic comfort. Our approach was to stay true to these goals, while introducing an occasional ‘surprise’ of an unexpected or unique element to help create special memories.”To see some of those elements of Paul Duesing’s design, we invite you to visit our online photo gallery. And to experience the design in person, we invite you to visit Cap Juluca on Anguilla by taking advantage of one of our many custom packages.www.capjuluca.comlast_img read more

Little Prince to be published in Cypriot dialect

first_imgONE of the most popular literary works in the world, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s, The Little Prince, has been translated into the Greek Cypriot dialect and is expected to be available in bookstores by the end of this month. The project was the idea of Iakovos Hadjipieris, who undertook to translate the book into the local dialect and joins some 300 translated versions around the world.“I thought of translating this story in Cypriot, as we have a strong local dialect, which is still very lively in Cypriot conversations,” Hadjipieris told the daily Politis.“I tried to attribute the text to a common Cypriot dialect, and when I say common I mean that language is somewhere ‘in the middle’. This is so that even young children can read it and understand it,” he said.Hadjipieris said that trying to put the Cypriot dialect in writing was challenging, as “there is no writing that responds to exact vocal realisation.”In such cases, he said, each author adopts the writing he or she considers best suited to their work. “Personally, I followed a simplified script, using, of course, the Greek alphabet.”What makes the translation important is that, for the first time, the dialect “is spreading its wings” to be heard beyond Cyprus, through an internationally recognised books, he said. This universality is understood by the author himself, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, according to Hadjipieris. “He indirectly speaks of our existence through it, beyond the universe. So, I think he would be very pleased if he saw his work not only in different languages, but also dialects.”He said that he feels that his translation will be an opportunity to bring families together, as older people could read it to their grandchildren and children could seek help from older family members who have better knowledge of the local dialect. You May LikeLuxury Crossover SUV I Search AdsThese SUVs Are The Cream Of The Crop.
