Colin Cowherd Makes Bold Statement About Dwayne Haskins, Ohio State

first_imgColin Cowherd trashes Notre Dame.Dwayne Haskins looked good in moments for the Ohio State Buckeyes last year, when he filled in for J.T. Barrett, and he was sensational in the team’s Week 1 win over Oregon State.Haskins was 22-for-30 for 313 yards and five touchdowns in the 77-31 victory. He also ran twice for 24 yards.Oregon State was definitely an overmatched OSU in that match-up. Still, Haskins turned heads with his performance. He is now sixth in ESPN’s Heisman Watch, and given the stature of “Ohio State quarterback,” he will certainly have his opportunity to compete for that award as the season wears on.Among those who think Dwayne Haskins is for real is FS1’s Colin Cowherd. He appeared on former ESPN colleague Ryen Russillo’s new podcast for The Ringer, “Dual Threat.” During the conversation, things briefly turned to the Buckeyes’ ceiling with Haskins.Cowherd compared him favorably to previous Urban Meyer quarterbacks like Barrett, going on to say he’s the type of quarterback that could win “a national title or two.”“Russillo: I think you got to put Ohio State there.Cowherd: So do I. I think I do.Russillo: Ohio State has to be in that group with Clemson.Cowherd: By the way, their quarterback—he’s good. I had an NFL guy this morning text me like ‘Hey, this guy can play.’ Urban’s had a lot of these… J.T. Barrett, you kind of love him for a weekend, but then they’re like ‘Yeah, but they’re not going to play at the next level.’ But that kid at Ohio State, that’s the kind of kid that can win a national title at Ohio State. Or two. He’s special.”The full episode:According to OddsShark, My Bookie now has Ohio State at +550 to win the national championship this year.[The Ringer]last_img read more
