American Beauty To Host Phish NYE Late-Nights With Particle, The Werks, Nth Power, Kung Fu & More

first_imgDuring Phish‘s historic Baker’s Dozen run this past summer, New York City became many Phish fans’ stomping grounds with pre-parties and post-parties popping up all over the Manhattan and Brooklyn. Jam-friendly, multi-room venue American Beauty, which is located right around the corner from Madison Square Garden, saw record crowds flow in and out of the club during the Baker’s Dozen mayhem, both before and after the main event each night.American Beauty’s motto is Live Music – Craft Beer – Free Pizza, making it a go-to with its enticing deal of free pizza with the purchase of any alcoholic beverage. With the Vermont Quartet back in town for a four-night New Year’s run (Dec. 28th – 31st), the club has announced a packed schedule of pre-parties (without cover charges); late-night performances from the likes of The Nth Power, Particle, The Werks, Kung Fu; the return of The Jerry Lounge; and much more to end 2017 in style.Deep down inside at the very core of The Nth Power you will find only L-O-V-E. The spiritually soulful funk of Nick Cassarino, Nikki Glaspie, and Nate Edgar comes from a collectively diverse musical portfolio that got its chops by playing to the masses in various formations across all stretches of the music-verse. But when creating their own unique sound, it becomes increasingly clear that these musicians simply belong together. There is something relentlessly inspiring behind the music and lyrics of this Earth-bound band that is able to stretch out to the furthest reaches of consciousness, thought, and being. Open yourself up and let The Nth Power in.“Only Love”:[via The Nth Power]Keyboard wizard Steve Molitz has been at the helm of Particle since the band began, interestingly enough, at a Phish after-party in California at the very beginning of the 1.0 era hiatus back in 2000. Particle, along with The Disco Biscuits, STS9, and Lotus, was one of the first acts to blend the jam and electronic genres together, creating the livetronica sub-genre at the onset of the new millennium. With the release of Launchpad and Transformations Live, Particle took on a life of its own, playing and touring with the Grateful Dead’s Mickey Hart and Phil Lesh, Robby Krieger of The Doors, Joe Satriani, Blackalicious, The String Cheese Incident’s Michael Kang, and many more. Purchase tickets here.Particle at Rex Theater, “Funkytown > Triple Threat”, Pittsburgh, PA, 2/13/16[via Alex Greene Films]Dayton, OH’s The Werks have been grinding things out on the road and in the studio over the past decade, making their mark on the jam scene with their creative songwriting and epic live improvisation. The Werks continue to earn fans across the country by throwing down fire sets at festivals like Camp Bisco, Jam Cruise, Electric Forest, High Sierra; carving out their own slice of the festie scene with their own hometown event The Werk Out Music & Arts Festival; and headlining countless venues nationwide. No strangers to the Phish late-night game, the group will also be returning to American Beauty for what is sure to be yet another unique performance well into the early hours of the morning. Over the past few months, the group has been releasing a series of singles dubbed Ninja Cuts, with the latest in the series featuring deep funk classic cut “Scorpion” penned by keyboardist Beau Sasser. In a recent interview with L4LM, drummer Adrian Tramontano discussed Kung Fu’s activity in the studio and switching things up with their live shows, “We’re writing a lot of new tunes. We’re just changing up our show a lot from what it used to be in the past. We are getting really open about how we’ve been playing stuff lately. I want people to get into the band, dig into the set list and check stuff out on archive.” Purchase tickets here.Kung Fu, “Scorpion”[via Kung Fu]Here is the full breakdown of the late night shows going on at American Beauty during Phish’s upcoming New Year’s Run:Post-Phish Late Night ShowsThurs 12/28 – The Nth PowerDoors: 11:30pm/Show: 11:55pmPurchase TicketsFri 12/29 – ParticleDoors: 11:30pm/Show: 11:55pmPurchase TicketsSat 12/30 – The WerksDoors: 11:30pm/Show: 11:55pmPurchase TicketsSun 12/31 – Kung FuDoors: 1:00am to late (open past 4am)Purchase TicketsRead on below for more information about American Beauty’s planned New Year’s Eve schedule:Phish MSG NYE Stream Party-7:30pm-1:30am-$25 General Admission Includes:-HD Live Stream in Front Bar and Performance Hall-Complimentary Champagne Toast at Midnight-Free Admission to After-Party (no re-entry)$75 All-Inclusive VIP Package Includes:-HD Live Stream in Front Bar and Performance Hall-Complimentary Champagne Toast at Midnight-Free Admission to After-Party-Open Bar from 10pm-1am-Guaranteed Entry to After-PartyNYE After Party-1am-Late (venue will be open past 4am)-$25 General Admission:-Live Set by Kung Fu-Jerry Lounge Experience-DJs TBD-$75 Open Bar Upgrade:-Live Set by Kung Fu-Jerry Lounge-Open Bar from 1am-4amHere is the full breakdown of the pre-shows going on at American Beauty during Phish’s upcoming New Year’s Run:Pre-Phish Events– Venue opens at 3pm every day and live music starts at 4pm. Wellington City proposes water conservation measures including exchanges, rebates and ascending water rates

first_imgby Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — With the ongoing drought the past four years, the Wellington City Council is looking into various water conservation measures to help decrease the amount of water consumed by its city customers.Upon the recommendations of a water conservation committee, the city is proposing three conservation measures:1. Changing out water-saving devices such as faucet and shower heads with new low-flow devices offered by the city at no charge.2. Revising the water rate structure in which rates will increase with the increased amount of water used, as opposed to decreasing rates. 3. Offering water saving rebates for people switching out toilets to new low-flow toilets that meet specific criteria. At the current time, these are simply proposals. The council is currently looking for public input before initiating such proposals. While the city council and staff continues to do feasibility studies to find more water sources such as water wells, pumping at Chickaskia river, etc., the council has also been studying city water consumption.Wellington City Council member Kelly Green, who chairs the conservation committee, approached the council in a special meeting on April 29 with these solution. In the first option, she is recommending the city purchase 200 low-flow shower heads and 200 low-flow aerators in which citizens will go to the city office and exchange their old shower and faucet heads. The second option is a bit more complicated, but water rates would be in ascending order instead of descending in order to encourage water conservation. Currently, rates are based on the amount consumed, the more you use the more your rates will go down based on bulk rate pricing. The proposal is, the more water a customer consumes the rates will increase.Wellington City Manager Gus Collins said staff recommends the first 2,000 gallons be $10 and a slight increase on the next three different rate tiers.“The majority of our customers use between 0 and 18,000 gallons for residential,” Collins said in the April 29 Special Meeting minutes.Staff is recommending $3.39/per thousand from 2 to 10,000 gallons and then 10 cent increments from 10,000 to 40,000 gallons. Anything in excess of 40,000 gallons would be $3.59.As far as the third option, if customers change out their old toilets for low-flow conservation ones, then they will receive a $50 rebate.“The Water Conservation Committee is working to address the three parts of the water conservation program to help ensure the longevity of our public water supply for current and future generations,” said Cody Sims, Wellington Economic Development Director. “The city is working diligently to identify and establish new water supplies to help supplement our lake, our existing wells, and our river source.“Water conservation is not unique to Wellington, as municipalities throughout Kansas (and the Great Plains/Mountain Regions) are working to offset greater risks to public water supplies that are being stressed by the drought we have been in for the last couple of years.”Follow us on Twitter. That is what I got when a contractor rebuilt a stool in my home before I moved, and I found out last fall by accident when I put in another rebuild kit because the stool leaked the adjustment was never made to bring the level up for a complete flush. My water bill has been down for six months by $20.00 a month. Report Reply 0 replies · active 324 weeks ago +11 Vote up Vote down john · 324 weeks ago I will take option 4. I think also if you put a limit on when people watered their yards with water sprinklers. In the part of Wichita that I live in you can only water on certain days. This is nothing new to the residents of Wellington. We have know about the water shortage for years but every time we get a big rain then life is good. Might as well get it out know how much of a tax increase are you going to need to fix this problem? Report Reply 0 replies · active 324 weeks ago +1 Vote up Vote down Larry · 324 weeks ago Where I live in New Mexico, they put in restrictions and also asked the citizens to help and conserve water. The citizens did such a great job that the water companies revenue income was so bad that they were going in the red, thanks to the saving of water. The company fixed that and raised the water rates by 8 dollars a month on each house hold to get there revenues back up. That’s how you thank them for doing there part.
