first_imgJunior Mandi Roemmich (West Des Moines, Iowa) of the Drake University softball team was selected to the Google Cloud College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 6 First Team. Roemmich is the first Drake softball student-athlete to earn all-district honors since Amy Pierce in 2013. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (when selected) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 6 (NCAA Division I). The 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Baseball and Softball Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball and softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. This season, Roemmich, who started all 56 games at shortstop, is batting a team-high .385 behind a team-best 70 hits, including a league-leading 15 doubles along with a career-high 32 runs batted in and she has scored 50 runs, which is the most in single-season history at Drake. Roemmich has a 4.00 cumulative grade point average in Biology. She was the 2018 Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year and is a three-time All-MVC honoree who has been named the MVC Elite 17 award winner at each of the last two MVC Tournaments. The MVC Elite 17 is awarded to the student-athlete with the highest GPA in the championship game. Roemmich was selected to the 2018 MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team. The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed in links provided above and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. Print Friendly Versionlast_img read more
